The accepted range differs by industry. The pharmaceutical industry defines this range as 2-8 degrees Celsius or 35.6-46.4 degrees Fahrenheit. (Shelly 2020) Refrigerated products form the highest valued market category. It includes the shipment of many traditional vaccines (especially those containing adjuvants), pharmaceuticals, biologics, and organ and tissue samples.. By 2024 it was predicted that 50% of our best-selling drugs will be shipped in the 2-8 degree C temperature category. However, with the growth of mRNA vaccines, new CGT options, the number of frozen and cryogenic biologics are expected to be shipped, requiring these lower temperature categories. (ISTA)
