When referring to an Ambient Temperature Profile (ATP) in the Cold Chain Packaging Industry, the ATP refers to the anticipated external temperature variation and duration to which a thermal shipping system may be exposed to during transport and is used to challenge a thermal shipping system in a thermal testing chamber or simulation software. PCG-04 (ISTA 2023) adds: ATP represents what the package would realistically experience in real world including radiant heat, direct sunlight, warehouse and vehicle temperatures, wind, and those temperature variations when exposed to during transportation. (ISTA) ATPs are expressed as a sequence of temperatures over time in a tabular format or a graph.
