Drugs which are chemically synthesized and processed non-biologically from components produced by microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) and plants. Pharmaceutical structures are usually chemically and thermally stable. 90% of them are classified as “small molecules” or low molecular weight molecules, such as aspirin, penicillin, ibuprofen, and antacids. Generic pharmaceuticals are exact copies of the original patented molecule. Most pharmaceuticals need to be shipped at controlled root temperature with a high upper temperature limit. Humidity may need to be controlled. High barrier packaging is needed such as polymer-based bottles ad blister packs. Desiccants can be used to help control humidity. (ISTA)
