They have a lower cost, but more than water based PCMs; increased density; undergo minor volume changes; are compatible with polymer packaging; and have a sharp temperature phase change. Unfortunately, they have poor stability (phase separation and low cyclability); are subject to supercooling; have limited availability of phase change temperature range options; can be corrosive; and can be toxic.
